What Is Access to Work and How Can It Support Neurodivergent Professionals?
If you’re a neurodivergent professional in the UK, you might be entitled to government-funded support to help you thrive at work.
Access to Work is a programme run by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP). It provides financial support for practical adjustments and services that remove barriers in the workplace. If you’re autistic, have ADHD, or live with another disability, Access to Work can fund services such as coaching, assistive technology, or mentoring—often without any cost to your employer.
Who Can Apply?
Access to Work is available to anyone in paid employment or self-employment who meets the following criteria:
Lives in England, Scotland, or Wales
Is 16 or older
Has a disability or long-term condition that impacts their ability to work effectively
Is employed, self-employed, or about to start a job
This includes people with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, anxiety, and a range of other neurodivergent profiles.
What Does It Cover?
Support is tailored to each individual and can include:
Specialist one-to-one coaching to help with focus, executive function, communication, and confidence
Autism or ADHD mentoring
Assistive technology such as mind mapping tools, task managers, or speech-to-text software
Body doubling sessions for accountability and structure
Disability awareness training for your employer or team
Access to Work may also cover travel to work, mental health support, or adaptations to the working environment.

We understand that applying for Access to Work can feel overwhelming. That’s why we offer clear, step-by-step guidance to help you understand what’s available and how to apply. We also work with employers to implement adjustments and support plans effectively.
Why This Matters
Many people don’t realise that they’re eligible for government-funded support until they’re already struggling. We believe that neurodivergent professionals should have access to the tools, strategies, and support they need to thrive—before burnout, disengagement, or performance issues occur.
Access to Work exists to level the playing field. With the right support in place, neurodivergent staff can bring exceptional strengths to the workplace. But that support has to be tailored, respectful, and designed with real insight into neurodiversity. That’s what we do.
